Most groups who ring asking for a sixteen seater need this instead, and we tell them so.
An eight seater is the vehicle that replaces two cars. That is the whole case for it. Five adults with suitcases will not fit in one saloon, so the alternatives are two taxis, two friends driving and then finding parking, or one vehicle with a driver where everyone travels together and nobody has to be sober.
Our fleet runs from 4 to 18 seats, and this size class covers the smaller end of it. Which exact vehicle you get is confirmed when we quote, because the deciding factor is almost never the headcount on its own — it is the headcount plus the luggage. Tell us both and we will tell you honestly whether this size is enough or whether you want the next one up.
When an 8 seater is the right answer
- A family airport run — four or five people, cases and hand luggage
- Five or six adults on a night out, where two taxis each way is the alternative
- A small work team to a meeting, a site or a station
- Grandparents and grandchildren in the same vehicle rather than split across cars
- A short day out where the parking is the actual problem
When it is not, and we will say so
If you are eight adults going away for a week, this is the wrong size even though the number matches, because the luggage has nowhere to go. If you are seven going to a match with nothing but coats, it is plenty. The headcount alone never decides it. This is the single most common thing people get wrong when they book, and it is much easier to fix in a message beforehand than in a driveway at five in the morning.
Against two taxis
Two taxis means two fares, two arrival times, two drivers who have never met each other, and a group split in half for the journey. One eight seater means one price agreed in advance, one pickup, and everybody in the same vehicle. On an airport run it also means one driver who knows what time your flight actually lands, rather than two who do not.
What it gets used for most
Airport transfers and nights out, by a distance. After that: weddings where the immediate family travel together, hospital and appointment runs, station transfers, and small group days out. If your group is larger than this, the 12 seater and the 16 seater have their own pages.

Is an 8 seater cheaper than two taxis?
For a group, usually, and the gap widens the further you go. It is also one fixed figure agreed in advance rather than two meters, and everyone travels together.
Will eight people and their suitcases fit?
The people, generally yes. The people plus eight large cases, often not, because the boot runs out before the seats do. Tell us the luggage when you ask and we will confirm the exact vehicle, or tell you to go a size up.
Does the price include the driver?
Yes. Every vehicle we run comes with a driver. We do not do self-drive hire.
Can you fit child seats?
Tell us the ages when you book and we will sort it out beforehand rather than on the doorstep.
Can you do an early morning airport run?
Yes, at any hour. We set the pickup time from your flight rather than from a fixed rule, and we track the inbound on the way home.
Can we book you for the return leg too?
Yes, and it is usually the better value. Book both legs together and we price them as one journey.
